It all started with a conversations at a local VFW...
Company owners and partners Charley Hawley and Chuck Quicksill are both military veterans who met at a VFW several years ago. Charley is an inventor and creator of many useful products (he holds several patents). Chuck is a businessman and one of his businesses is a flooring company.
Charley was a combat engineer/demolition sergeant in the 10th Group Special Forces of the US Army, With degrees in Marine Science Technology and Electronics, he has had a varied career and worn many hats, including working for the North Carolina Wildlife Commission. Later, he became an an engineer for IBM, for which he designed several patented products.
Chuck served in the US Navy- based in Rodman, Panama and with the Special Boat Unit 13 Naval Amphibious Base in California. He owns Get Reelin’ Fishing Charters in Oak Island, North Carolina and Allshores Flooring of Southport, NC. Through his flooring company, Chuck has had to repair and rebuild many kitchen floors and subfloors due to water leaks. Sometimes the entire kitchen and living space have had to be ripped out and rebuilt due to a slow, undetected leak.
Knowing Charley’s creative thinking, Chuck asked him if he could create some type of product that would prevent that kind of damage. Charley designed and built several prototypes and filed for patents. The result is this appliance underpan – one of the designs Charley created.
The underpan is designed to catch the water from leaks under dishwashers and alert the homeowner before damage occurs.
